About This Space
Located just a 15 minute drive from the Sekenani gate of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, our fully solar powered one bedroom container house is set in its own small private garden within our farm (Kobi Farm) near Nkoilale. It comprises of an open plan lounge and self catering kitchen, double bedroom, bathroom and outside seating areas.
The house sleeps 2 guests in a queen size bed, we can also provide a garden tent with camp beds and beddings for a maximum of 2 additional guests.
The cozy bedroom contains a queen size (5x6') double bed, wardrobe and mosquito net while the kitchen has a full gas oven, fridge freezer, toaster and all the other utensils and cutlery you should need during your stay. The bathroom comprises of a solar heated hot water shower, flush toilet and sink with hand soap and body wash provided. Outside there is a small BBQ grill, you just need to come with your own briquettes/charcoal, as well as a fire place area where we will light you a bonfire in the evenings.
The house comfortably sleeps 1-2 guests in a queen size double bed, for small groups and families of up to 4 we can also provide a large dome tent with twin camp beds and beddings in the garden. Additional guests over 2 are charged at $20 per guest per night.
To minimise plastic waste, since we have have no recycling facilities in the Masai Mara, we provide treated drinking water in the guest house in recycled 5lt plastic bottles which we will be happy to refill throughout your stay if needed.
Kobi Farm is home to our dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys, geese, sheep and cows and they will sometimes come up to the house so you must be an animal lover if youâd like to stay here!
Our whole 5 acre farm is securely fenced with a solar powered electric fence, beyond the fence we have 6 acres of Acacia woodland leading to the Talek River which weâve left untouched for the wildlife. Zebra, Warthogs, Hyena, Elephants and Giraffe are regularly spotted passing through, especially in the early morning and evenings, on the other side of the river is the Ol Kinyei Conservancy. On this side of the property it is not safe to walk freely unless we have sent out a guide or spotter first to make sure there are no Elephants, Lions, Buffalo or Hippo in the vicinity!
There are lots of activities available in the Maasai Mara including game drives, hot air ballooning, Maasai village visits, local homestay, nature walks and bush camping inside the Maasai Mara. More information can be found in our listing photo gallery. We also offer a full board catered meals option for guests who prefer not to self cater for an additional $35 per person per night. Just let us know if there is anything you would like any additional information about.
You are also welcome to take part in these complementary activities as part of your stay with us:
SUNSET VIEWINGâ Head down to the riverside in the evening for approximately 1 hour and spend some time on our lookout. Check out the sunset and see if any of our resident wildlife is around. If you have your own drinks and snacks you are welcome to take them with you to enjoy. Bear in mind this is a wildlife area so you must have at least one of our team with you for safety.
HERDING â Join us daily at 8-10am as we take our animals out for grazing. Meet our cows and sheep as you learn about our way of life and the challenges of keeping livestock in this rural wildlife area.
FARM WALK â If you are interested to tour our farm let us know and we will take you for a short walk around, you can meet our animals and we'll show you how we are doing our best to recycle and live as sustainably as possible.
Please note:
We do get mosquitoes in this area as we are close to a river and water reservoirs so make sure to wear insect repellant, especially in the evenings. There is also bug spray provided in the cottage and plug in mosquito repellants which you can turn on at night.
Also due to our bush location, you may encounter some smaller critters like spiders, beetles and lizards around the property. We do our best to keep them outside, but can't guarantee you won't find some inside The Pink Container. If you are afraid of spiders and bugs, this may not be the best place for you!
There is WiFi in The Pink Container compound which is fine for normal use, we donât guarantee it will be suitable for streaming or high use. We also wonât be held responsible if it is affected by bad weather or there is a network outage, this does occasionally happen but not often.
Narok is our closest major town with supermarkets and it is around 1.5hr drive away from The Pink Container. You should make sure to have all the self catering supplies you need for your stay before you leave Narok as our here not much is available.
We have a small selection of drinks available for purchase, which we can bring to the guesthouse for you during your stay:
Tusker Beer/Cider 500ml â KES 400
Sodas 300ml â KES 100
Drostdy Hof Red & White wine 750ml â KES 2500
If you are interested in any of our farm produce you can also let us know, we usually have fresh free range eggs, cows milk and honey available. We also often have turkey and lamb meat.
Before booking please make sure you are happy with our house rules and you are willing to look after our property by taking note of the following:
~We are off grid and run entirely on solar power which means we avoid national grid power cuts and the noise and pollution from a generator. It does mean however that we cannot run very high power items such as electric kettles and hair dryers, as they can overload and damage our solar system, causing a black out and expensive repairs. If you have an item you would like to use but you are not sure of the power consumption please consult with us first to avoid causing any damage to our system.
~We rely solely on rainwater harvesting for our clean water supply and as this is an arid area with regular periods of drought we ask you to be considerate when using the water. Please try to maximise your time in the shower to 10 minutes, donât leave taps running unnecessarily. While waiting for shower water to become hot you can collect the water in the bucket provided to water the flowers rather than waste it.
~The septic waste uses a biodigester system. To avoid blocking it please only flush normal toilet paper down the toilet! Please use the bins provided for any other items.
~Please don't smoke inside the house, you are welcome to smoke in the garden and use the ashtray provided.
~This is generally a peaceful area with nature and wildlife around so we ask that if you want to play music, not to have it too loud and to keep noise levels as low as possible after 10pm until 6am.
If you would like any more information about staying with us, please don't hesitate to contact us. You are welcome to book via Airbnb via the link on this page, or directly with us.Â

InĂšs2025-12-01We had such a wonderful stay! The container was spotless, very comfy, and exactly as described â even better in person. The location was perfect, close to the safar and quiet to relax and hear animals. Moses was incredibly kind, responsive, and thoughtful throughout our stay, making everything smooth. I really appreciated the small details and the warm hospitality. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this place to anyone visiting for the safari!
Taru2025-11-16This was my third time bringing different friends and family to the Pink Container, and once again we had an unforgettable trip! I cannot imagine a better way to experience Masaai Mara. Huge thank you to Moses, Laura, Mike (our guide), and to the rest of the staff!
Tara2025-10-05My stay at The Pink Container, Maasai Mara was pure magic! I wanted to travel independently (not on a package tour) and found this gem on Airbnb â best decision ever. Moses and Laura are warm, thoughtful hosts who care deeply about sustainability. The cozy container had everything â rainwater, fresh farm milk, eggs, and a self-sufficient kitchen. Moses welcomed us like family and even took us to a private sunset viewpoint. Our safari guide, Mike, was phenomenal â we saw the Big Five, over 40 lions, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and more! His knowledge and driving skills were unmatched. The area felt peaceful, safe, and filled with countryside charm â cows, goats, birds, and the sweetest Maasai night guard, Josephat. I left with a full heart and unforgettable memories. If itâs available, book it right away â itâs not just a stay, itâs a soulful experience. đżâ€ïž I would love to stay in touch with them! They are like family now!
Shashwat2025-09-28We had an incredible experience at the Pink Container. Moses and the Kobi Farm family made us feel right at home, in the midst of wilderness. The container is well-equipped, the outside patio and surroundings are beautiful. We had a great time at the observation deck spotting the drifting wildlife. Also, pretty amazing waking up to lion grunts and hyena calls in the middle of the night. The game drives were exhilarating and very convenient too. We opted for the catered meals - they were delicious and hearty. Highly recommend it. Everybody at the farm was really warm and fun to talk to. They went above and beyond to make it our home during our stay. We left with a lot of fond memories. If this place is available for your dates, donât think twice. I canât imagine any other place providing a comparable experience. Shoutout to the Kobi Farm family for making it unique and special.
Kyothu2025-09-13We had a wonderful stay in Sekenani! The property was comfortable and perfectly located for exploring the Masai Mara, but what truly made our experience exceptional was our host. He was incredibly professional, responsive, and went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. From the moment we booked, he helped us organize our tours and made all the arrangements stress-free. Thanks to our guide Mike that Moses organized for us, we were able to enjoy an unforgettable safari experience. It was a once in a lifetime memory for us. We felt very well taken care of.
Ryan2025-09-10One of my best Airbnb experiences ever! Moses is such an amazing host he truly made us feel right at home. He even took us around his farm and went the extra mile in every way. Honestly, we didnât want to leave!Special shoutout to Gideon, Cactus, Mike (our awesome game drive guide), and of course the sweetest dogs - OJ, Chrome, Snowman, and little Dikdik đ¶. They all made our stay unforgettable. If this place is available, donât think twice just book it! Iâm convinced even 5-star hotels canât match the kind of warmth, care, and hospitality Moses offers. Thank you again, Moses, for everything đ Masai Mara got even better because of our decision to stay here
Sarah2025-08-17We had an amazing stay at the Pink Container! Moses was incredibly helpful from the time we booked, up until each day of our stay. I had a bunch of questions which he was happy to answer. We opted for the catered meals per day and Moses accommodated our dietary restrictions graciously! He is an amazing chef and gave us 3 course meals during our stay. My birthday happened to be on one of the days of our stay and Moses and Laura surprised me with a homemade cake and songs. It was really sweet! It was super interesting to learn more about life living off the grid from Moses and we appreciated our conversations with him.We also booked game drives through them and our guide Mike was awesome. We were able to see a variety of animals in a short amount of time and learned a lot about the Maasai culture from him. During our stay we also heard hyenas and lions at night. The stars outside on a clear night were breathtaking. On our last day, we were even visited by zebras!
