About This Space
The cozy bedroom contains a queen size (5x6') double bed, wardrobe and mosquito net while the kitchen has a full gas oven, fridge freezer, toaster and all the other utensils and cutlery you should need during your stay. The bathroom comprises of a solar heated hot water shower, flush toilet and sink with hand soap and body wash provided. Outside there is a small BBQ grill, you just need to come with your own briquettes/charcoal, as well as a fire place area where we will light you a bonfire in the evenings.
The house comfortably sleeps 1-2 guests in a queen size double bed, for small groups and families of up to 4 we can also provide a large dome tent with twin camp beds and beddings in the garden. Additional guests over 2 are charged at $20 per guest per night.
To minimise plastic waste, since we have have no recycling facilities in the Masai Mara, we provide treated drinking water in the guest house in recycled 5lt plastic bottles which we will be happy to refill throughout your stay if needed.
Kobi Farm is home to our dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys, geese, sheep and cows and they will sometimes come up to the house so you must be an animal lover if you’d like to stay here!
Our whole 5 acre farm is securely fenced with a solar powered electric fence, beyond the fence we have 6 acres of Acacia woodland leading to the Talek River which we’ve left untouched for the wildlife. Jackals, Warthogs, Impala, Elephants and Giraffe are regularly spotted passing through, especially in the early morning and evenings, on the other side of the river is the Ol Kinyei Conservancy. On this side of the property it is not safe to walk freely unless we have sent out a guide or spotter first to make sure there are no Elephants, Lions, Buffalo or Hippo in the vicinity.
There are lots of activities available in the Maasai Mara including game drives, traditional BBQ, hot air ballooning, horse riding, Maasai village visits, local homestay, sundowners, nature walks and bush camping inside the Maasai Mara. We can also offer a full board catered option for guests who prefer not to self cater for an additional $35 per person per night.
You are also welcome to take part in these complementary activities as part of your stay with us:
SUNSET VIEWING– Head down to the riverside in the evening for approximately 1 hour and spend some time on our lookout. Check out the sunset and see if any of our resident wildlife is around. If you have your own drinks and snacks you are welcome to take them with you to enjoy. Bear in mind this is a wildlife area so you must have at least one of our team with you for safety.
HERDING – Join us daily at 8-10am as we take our animals out for grazing. Meet our cows and sheep as you learn about our way of life and the challenges of keeping livestock in this rural wildlife area.
FARM WALK – If you are interested to tour our farm let us know and we will take you for a short walk around, you can meet our animals and we'll show you how we are doing our best to recycle and live as sustainably as possible.
Please note:
We do get mosquitoes in this area as we are close to a river and water reservoirs so make sure to wear insect repellant, especially in the evenings. There is also bug spray provided in the cottage and plug in mosquito repellants which you can turn on at night.
There is WiFi in the cottage and garden which is fine for normal use, we don’t guarantee it will be suitable for streaming or high use. We also won’t be held responsible if it is affected by bad weather or there is a network outage, this does occasionally happen but not often.
Narok is our closest major town with supermarkets and it is around 1.5hr drive away from The Pink Container. You should make sure to have all the self catering supplies you need for your stay before you leave Narok as our here not much is available.
We have a small selection of drinks available for purchase, which we can bring to the guesthouse for you during you stay.
Beer 500ml – KES 350
Soda 300ml – KES 100
Drostdy Hof red & white wine 750ml – KES 2000
If you are interested in any of our farm produce you can also let us know, we usually have fresh free range eggs, cows milk and honey available. We also often have turkey meat and lamb.
Before booking please make sure you are happy with our house rules and you are willing to look after our eco cottage by taking note of the following:
~We are off grid and run entirely on solar power which means we avoid national grid power cuts and the noise and pollution from a generator. It does mean however that we cannot run very high power items such as electric kettles/hair dryers/straighteners, etc., as they can overload and damage our solar system causing a black out and expensive repairs. If you have an item you would like to use but you are not sure of the power consumption please consult with us first to avoid causing any damage to our system.
~We rely solely on rainwater harvesting for our clean water supply and as this is an arid area with regular periods of drought we ask you to be considerate when using the water. Please try to maximise your time in the shower to 10 minutes, don’t leave taps running unnecessarily. While waiting for shower water to become hot you can collect the water in the bucket provided to water the flowers rather than waste it. Also if you notice any water/pipe leaks please let us know!
~The septic waste uses a biodigester system. To avoid blocking it please only flush normal toilet paper down the toilet! Please use the bins provided for any other items.
~Please don't smoke inside the house, you are welcome to smoke in the garden and use the ashtray provided.
~This is generally a peaceful area with nature and wildlife around so we ask that if you want to play music, not to have it too loud and to keep noise levels as low as possible after 10pm until 6am.

Alicia2024-08-24Moses and Laura have created a one-of-a-kind oasis for any traveler who wants a unique experience beyond the typical safari tented camp or lodge. They are welcoming, generous with their time, and full of insight into local life and culture - and have the best viewing platform, by far. The team on their farm and their guides are terrific, too!
Nishanth2024-08-11Excellent. Moses can even set you up with wonderful Masai Mara tours
Thomas2024-08-09I stayed in the Pink Container for 4 nights and wish I had booked more time. Laura made everything so easy prior to arrival and helped me decide to do the catered option which I recommend. Moses provides some amazing meals with ingredients from their farm, and Laura tops things off with fantastic desserts. There were always plentiful food options, and they can cater to what you like. They also invited me into their purple container for Kenyan tea, so kind. I recommend taking a tour of the farm, it is amazing to see how it all works and you can see how munch effort is being put into the property. My Maasai game driver Mike was extra knowledgeable and kind and definitely knew his way around the park. Even got to find an elusive rhino! The Maasai BBQ was a must, fresh meat, great company and some cultural immersion. No mosquito issues inside as long as you use the devices and bug net while sleeping. And herding in the morning with Cactus and the dogs was a treat as well. Worth every dolla

Alison2024-07-18We had a brilliant stay at the pink container, the time here was the best few days of our time in Kenya. The accommodation and surroundings were even better than described in the listing and all of the activities and food organised for us were excellent, especially the 2 full days in the Masai Mara. I recommend for families (our kids aged 9 and 11 loved it). Great hospitality and communication from Moses and Laura, many thanks for a wonderful experience.
Aileen2024-06-27Moses and Laura were amazing host. From suggesting routes, arranging a full day game drive (Jeffrey our guide brought the best of Masai Mara to us) to joining us for sunsets! The Pink Container was the most comfortable airbnb we stayed at so far :)
Stina2024-06-24We had an absolutely amazing stay at the pink container & would have loved to stay longer. Moses & everyone we met were so wonderful, we really felt right at home. The time flew by in the most beautiful surroundings, and it was such a great base to explore Maasai Mara too! Everything was clean and worked well, the kitchen was very well stocked. We brought some of the food items ourselves & bought some stuff from the farm directly - delicious. 100% recommend this place and we would stay again, and hopefully will one day!
Nick2024-06-16Could not possibly recommend Moses' and Laura's place more highly - from the gorgeous location at their lush farm close to the park gate, to my guide Mike who couldn't have been more welcoming, patient with (stupid) questions about Maasai and Kenyan life, knowledgeable about the wildlife, or just a joy to hang out with, to the fantastic home cooked catering using many ingredients from the farm, to Moses' banter and storytelling, and more. I'd come back next week if I could - but whoever is reading this, you should be the one who takes that spot. You won't regret it!
Zeena2024-06-10Absolute best Airbnb and Safari experience I’ve ever had (I’m a girl mid-20s, huge traveler). My mom and brother were coming to visit me and their flight was canceled last minute and Moses was very understanding allowed me to change the dates without charge. I spent a long time researching places and Moses’s place was incredibly underpriced compared to the other rates in the area, especially for the HIGH value of the place. The place was super clean, comfortable, gorgeous location (sunset especially). Plus you have the option of meals (super reasonably priced) from the farm that tasted amazing. A highlight was Moses spending time taking us around the farm for a tour and telling us about the village (for free), he even gave me local herbal oil for my back pain. The Safari with Mara Explorers was so memorable, the price was amazing. Mike the guide knew so much about where to find the all the animals and was so attentive and knowledgeable. We saw every animal! Highly recommend.
Yangyang2024-05-02Moses and his friends have provided us with a perfect trip in Kenya. He gives me a feeling that he knows how we can make the world a better place and he is trying to use his power to make it happen. I appreciate the opportunity to talk with him and his team for many days. Also, I must say, what he and Simon have provided us is not just accommodation and guided tours, but more on lifestyle. I enjoy the whole experience!
