About This Space
Located just a 15 minute drive from the Sekenani gate of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, our fully solar powered one bedroom container house is set in its own small private garden within our farm (Kobi Farm) near Nkoilale. It comprises of an open plan lounge and self catering kitchen, double bedroom, bathroom and outside seating areas.
The house sleeps 2 guests in a queen size bed, we can also provide a garden tent with camp beds and beddings for a maximum of 2 additional guests.
The cozy bedroom contains a queen size (5x6') double bed, wardrobe and mosquito net while the kitchen has a full gas oven, fridge freezer, toaster and all the other utensils and cutlery you should need during your stay. The bathroom comprises of a solar heated hot water shower, flush toilet and sink with hand soap and body wash provided. Outside there is a small BBQ grill, you just need to come with your own briquettes/charcoal, as well as a fire place area where we will light you a bonfire in the evenings.
The house comfortably sleeps 1-2 guests in a queen size double bed, for small groups and families of up to 4 we can also provide a large dome tent with twin camp beds and beddings in the garden. Additional guests over 2 are charged at $20 per guest per night.
To minimise plastic waste, since we have have no recycling facilities in the Masai Mara, we provide treated drinking water in the guest house in recycled 5lt plastic bottles which we will be happy to refill throughout your stay if needed.
Kobi Farm is home to our dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys, geese, sheep and cows and they will sometimes come up to the house so you must be an animal lover if you’d like to stay here!
Our whole 5 acre farm is securely fenced with a solar powered electric fence, beyond the fence we have 6 acres of Acacia woodland leading to the Talek River which we’ve left untouched for the wildlife. Zebra, Warthogs, Hyena, Elephants and Giraffe are regularly spotted passing through, especially in the early morning and evenings, on the other side of the river is the Ol Kinyei Conservancy. On this side of the property it is not safe to walk freely unless we have sent out a guide or spotter first to make sure there are no Elephants, Lions, Buffalo or Hippo in the vicinity!
There are lots of activities available in the Maasai Mara including game drives, hot air ballooning, Maasai village visits, local homestay, nature walks and bush camping inside the Maasai Mara. More information can be found in our listing photo gallery. We also offer a full board catered meals option for guests who prefer not to self cater for an additional $35 per person per night. Just let us know if there is anything you would like any additional information about.
You are also welcome to take part in these complementary activities as part of your stay with us:
SUNSET VIEWING– Head down to the riverside in the evening for approximately 1 hour and spend some time on our lookout. Check out the sunset and see if any of our resident wildlife is around. If you have your own drinks and snacks you are welcome to take them with you to enjoy. Bear in mind this is a wildlife area so you must have at least one of our team with you for safety.
HERDING – Join us daily at 8-10am as we take our animals out for grazing. Meet our cows and sheep as you learn about our way of life and the challenges of keeping livestock in this rural wildlife area.
FARM WALK – If you are interested to tour our farm let us know and we will take you for a short walk around, you can meet our animals and we'll show you how we are doing our best to recycle and live as sustainably as possible.
Please note:
We do get mosquitoes in this area as we are close to a river and water reservoirs so make sure to wear insect repellant, especially in the evenings. There is also bug spray provided in the cottage and plug in mosquito repellants which you can turn on at night.
Also due to our bush location, you may encounter some smaller critters like spiders, beetles and lizards around the property. We do our best to keep them outside, but can't guarantee you won't find some inside The Pink Container. If you are afraid of spiders and bugs, this may not be the best place for you!
There is WiFi in The Pink Container compound which is fine for normal use, we don’t guarantee it will be suitable for streaming or high use. We also won’t be held responsible if it is affected by bad weather or there is a network outage, this does occasionally happen but not often.
Narok is our closest major town with supermarkets and it is around 1.5hr drive away from The Pink Container. You should make sure to have all the self catering supplies you need for your stay before you leave Narok as our here not much is available.
We have a small selection of drinks available for purchase, which we can bring to the guesthouse for you during your stay:
Tusker Beer/Cider 500ml – KES 400
Sodas 300ml – KES 100
Drostdy Hof Red & White wine 750ml – KES 2500
If you are interested in any of our farm produce you can also let us know, we usually have fresh free range eggs, cows milk and honey available. We also often have turkey and lamb meat.
Before booking please make sure you are happy with our house rules and you are willing to look after our property by taking note of the following:
~We are off grid and run entirely on solar power which means we avoid national grid power cuts and the noise and pollution from a generator. It does mean however that we cannot run very high power items such as electric kettles and hair dryers, as they can overload and damage our solar system, causing a black out and expensive repairs. If you have an item you would like to use but you are not sure of the power consumption please consult with us first to avoid causing any damage to our system.
~We rely solely on rainwater harvesting for our clean water supply and as this is an arid area with regular periods of drought we ask you to be considerate when using the water. Please try to maximise your time in the shower to 10 minutes, don’t leave taps running unnecessarily. While waiting for shower water to become hot you can collect the water in the bucket provided to water the flowers rather than waste it.
~The septic waste uses a biodigester system. To avoid blocking it please only flush normal toilet paper down the toilet! Please use the bins provided for any other items.
~Please don't smoke inside the house, you are welcome to smoke in the garden and use the ashtray provided.
~This is generally a peaceful area with nature and wildlife around so we ask that if you want to play music, not to have it too loud and to keep noise levels as low as possible after 10pm until 6am.
If you would like any more information about staying with us, please don't hesitate to contact us. You are welcome to book via Airbnb via the link on this page, or directly with us.

Sophie2025-03-01Moses and Laura were excellent hosts and they and their staff were all incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We had the most memorable experience . Highly recommend to anyone who is doubting whether to book. The BBQ evening was a highlight , delicious food and fascinating dancing and singing from the Masai tribe. We loved every moment of it , as did our 3 year old and we were lucky enough to see lions, cheetah , a python, elephants and giraffes and Debra’s amongst others on our game drives , - Mike was an expert in tracking down the animals and sharing amazing stories. We also got engaged on the viewing platform in Moses garden !! Don’t miss out . The cabin has everything g you need and a beautiful garden to chill out in
Jacqueline2025-02-12We absolutely loved everything about our stay on Kobi Farm! The warm greeting by Moses, the neighboring wildlife, eating Marshmellows with Josphat (Security and fire master), stargazing on the hammock, the tour of the farm + the herding. Our personal favorite were the safari gamedrives with Mike! We had a blast:)
Gwen2025-02-09If I could give Moses and Laura 100 stars, I would. This was truly the experience of a lifetime and while I anticipated having a great stay, they curated an adventure above and beyond anything imaginable. The game drive was otherworldly, and our guide, Mike, was fantastic. It was super affordable and well worth every penny spent. The personal touches like setting up breakfast in the park and bringing blankets for the chilly morning ride were so sweet. The Bush BBQ is an absolute MUST. We loved dancing with the Maasai men and eating super fresh lamb cooked over a fire. We also did a morning walk with Moses while he herded their animals and he shared so much knowledge about the landscape, culture, medicinal plants and local animals. He is a wealth of knowledge and we are forever grateful for his hospitality. If you’re considering staying with them, don’t think twice. Book now and prepare for the adventure of a lifetime. Thanks so much Moses and Laura!
Benjamin2024-12-26We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was two couples and we felt comfortable in the unit. We stayed for two nights and felt that was perfect to be able to enjoy the property. It is also 15 minutes from the main Masai Mara entrance. We will be back!
Xie Ke And Ivan2024-11-30We had a lovely stay with Moses. Kobi farm is a beautiful and peaceful us for us to rest after our travel around Kenya and game drives. Dina2024-11-22This place is 100% recommended to anyone considering a clean space, super unusual staying in the middle of a park yet feeling safe. I was truly impressed with how Moses took care of all the small details starting with the apartment and how keen they are on ensuring that everything is sustainable. Moses and Laura have been super friendly, they showed us around the farm, cooked us dinner as per our request and packed lunch. Also, the location is only 15 minutes away from Masai gate. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend it to everyone :)
Kobe2024-10-20Moses and Laura were fantastic. They made us feel at home but we also had the privacy of our own space if we needed it, but they were also always available if we had questions. They also have a lookout point to watch the sunset and animals which we thoroughly enjoyed. We had such a great time not just on their property but also spending time with them and getting to know them. We came with no expectations but felt so at home, we definitely feel as if we made two new friends
