Amboseli National Park is a small park in the south of Kenya on the border of Tanzania. Approximately 4 hours drive from Nairobi, it is widely known for its views of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro and its huge elephant herds.
Located in the land of the Maasai tribe, the park is just 392 km2 and the name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”.
Amboseli is home to all of the ‘big 5’ animals, lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino, however some of them are early seen. It is also home to marshy swaps which are great for bird watchers and has an observation hill where views over the whole park are possible.
The current rates to enter Amboseli National Park are as follows:
US$ 60 per adult per day & $35 per child 3-17 years for non-residents.
Amboseli is a KWS managed park and payment should be made in advance of entry via the following site https://kws.ecitizen.go.ke if possible to avoid delays on your arrival at the gate.
