14 days South West Madagascar

Day 1. Arrive Ivato international airport and transfer to hotel. We’ll stay at Hotel Sakamanga (or similar) in the centre of Antananarivo tonight so you can get a feel for the city. We can visit a supermarket, ATM and change money today if your arrival time allows or there will also be time for this tomorrow morning. We’ll have a welcome meeting and dinner in the hotel tonight.

Included meals: Dinner

Day 2. We will depart the capital city after breakfast and make our way to the friendly and buzzing town of Ansirabe. We’ll be able to explore the town, take a traditional pousse- pousse bicycle ride and visit the zebu horn carvers. We’ll spend the night at Couleur Cafe Hotel or similar.
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3. This morning we will visit Lake Tritriva and stretch our legs on a walk around this beautiful volcanic green crater lake. Then we will begin our journey to Miandrivazo, our jump off point for the Tsiribihina River decent. We’ll overnight in SoaLia Hotel or similar and finalise the check in details formalities for our river trip.
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4. After breakfast this morning we will head to the village of Masiakampy where we will jump on our boat. Originally used for the transportation of tobacco, these barges have been adapted to accommodate and transport tourists. We will begin our leisurely decent down the river and enjoy lunch on board as we watch the world go by. Late this afternoon we will reach the camping site and unwind in a refreshing natural swimming pool. We’ll keep an eye out for the common brown lemur, and the Verreaux’s sifakas as we explore. As the day draws to a close we’ll have some lively entertainment from our boat crew before settling down for the night in our tents on the river bank. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 5. Today we can wake up for sunrise on the river. We’ll have breakfast before we depart and anyone wanting another quick dip in the natural pool before we leave can go ahead. We will continue our adventure on Tsiribihina River and stop to visit the village of Begidro where we can interact with the local kids and have a drink in a local bar if you like! Afterwards we will continue our river descent and experience some diverse landscapes and limestone cliffs this afternoon. In the evening we will make camp close to a small village and have some singing and dancing entertainment with the locals.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 6. We will depart for our final morning on the boat with our fabulous crew. We’ll have lunch on board before we jump off the boat at Belo sur Tsiribihina to meet our 4x4s and head to Bekopaka on some very challenging roads! We will have an afternoon of driving as we head to our next destination of the Grand Tsingy. There are very few accommodation options here but we will stay in a comfortable lodging for the next 3 nights as we explore the area. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 7. This morning we will go for an early morning visit to the Gorges of the Manambolo River with traditional pirogues. We will also explore the Petit Tsingy de Bemaraha on foot today, Tsingy means ‘walking on tip-toe’ in Malagasy and you will understand why when we walk amongst these fascinating limestone rock formations. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 8. We’ll have a drive of around 1 hour today to reach the famous Grand Tsingy de Bemaraha which we’ll explore on foot. The Tsingy de Bemaraha are derived from karst limestone deposits that were formed more than 200 million years ago. The runoff from the water gave it that extraordinary look, composed of sharp ridges. We’ll have a packed lunch with us today and return to the lodge in the afternoon.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 9. Today will be another long rough drive out of Bekopaka as we head back through Belo sur Tsiribihina and continue to Kirindy Forest. We will have a lunch stop on route and continue to the village of Kirindy where we will stay at our hotel for the night, the Relais du Kirindy. This evening we will go for a night walk in the forest, good for discovering unique and endemic nocturnal wildlife and hopefully the Fossa!

Day 10. This morning we will go for another morning nature walk in the Kirindy forest to see what birds and lemurs we can find. Afterwards we will visit the ‘Sacred Baobabs’ and have some free time to relax at the lodge and swim in the pool before lunch. After lunch we will make our way to the ‘Baobabs of Love’ for a visit and later to the ‘Avenue of the Baobabs’ where we will have a chance to plant some native trees around the avenue from the on-site tree nursery. We will spend time here until sunset so you can get your iconic photos before we head to the town of Morondava around a 45min drive away for dinner and overnight in Chez Maggie Hotel or similar.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 12. This morning we’ll relax and enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we take a boat to visit the rarely explored Kirindy Mitea National Park and the mangroves of Agnolignoly. We’ll return to our hotel for dinner.

So, one word: Perfect. We spent 2 nights in the pink container & felt like we could’ve stayed forever. Moses has thought about everything: the house has everything, everything worked, & communications were completely effortless. Anything you can think of will be taken care of with fidelity & pleasure. The location is great; staying at the farm was cosy, & you can spot some safari animals on the other side of the fence! Everyone on the farm was so warm-hearted; we felt so welcome. We got the whole package – catering, taxis & a Maasai guide. We had requested vegan catering: excellent, homey food. We did a 1-day safari with our Maasai guide, David. The day was pitch-perfect. David was really sympathetic – a very knowledgeable guide & a great driver. We did a nature walk with David, too, & visited the Maasai village. We can’t recommend this experience warmly enough. If there’s a superlative I forgot to use here, that’s my bad. Just book with them, you’re in for the time of your life.

We stayed 3 nights at Laura's and Moses' place and could not be happier with the experience. The place is beautiful, quiet, and surrounded with animals. We opted for the full catering which allowed us for peace of mind and to enjoy the delicious locally sourced meals prepared by our two hosts. They even prepared zero waste breakfast and lunchboxes to enjoy during our game rides in the parc.Moses is very inspiring and it was a pleasure to listen to his story, what he does for the local community and their work at the Kobi farm, while watching the sunset from the nearby platform. We also went for a tour with Mike, a Masaai from the neighbouring village, which was a very pleasant surprise! Thanks again Moses, Laura, Joshua, Mike and Cactus!

There's no better place to stay for price, comfort, privacy, security and location if you are visiting Maasai Mara National Reserve. Moses was extremely responsive and even let us scout out the location in advance of our booking. He was always available and on site, along with 24 hour security that was always nearby. The shower was hot, the beds were comfy, and they had all of the basic amenities you need to cook. You can actually see wildlife on the other side of the compound fence when you're sitting on the porch. The tent cots were extremely comfortable. We had electricity the entire time. Most of all Moses & Laura were so kind and helpful. My mom and brother were so impressed. They really went above and beyond. Plus, the location is just outside the Sekanani gate. You really can't get any closer unless you're inside the park (but you won't have the comfort & amenities and will pay much more money). We will definitely recommend this to friends and be back. Thank you Moses & Laura!

We had two great days in the pink container. Laura and Moses are very nice, courteous and hospitable hosts. The standard and the equipment in the container as well as the service and joint conversations and activities with Moses and the staff were perfect. We felt at home from the very first moment and didn't miss a thing. Many thanks for the wonderful time.

Had an amazing time with Moses. He and Laura are extremely courteous and caring hosts. We did the dining option with them and they shopped for halal food and cooked for us. We had our dinners on the front porch and had lovely conversations with Moses which was occasionally punctuated by the sounds of hyenas and lions closeby. Despite the proximity of the wildlife, we were never in danger as the area is secured by an electric fence and another internal fence. There are guards watching the area at all times. The farm house is approximately 15 minute drive from Maasai Mara. The route here is paved the whole way except for the last turn to Moses house, which is a bit tough. Keep that in mind if you want to self drive. They can arrange a private tour for you for about $80 per person and provide catered meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) for about $35 per person. Overall, we had an absolutely amazing experience and would love to stay here again.

Moses is an amazing host who goes above and beyond to make his guests feel like at home. With his continuous smile and positive attitude he creates a really special atmosphere on his farm. Mike, the safari guide and driver, is an awesome person as well, we will never forget the private safari with him!The container farm stay is so close to Masai Mara, we were able to see animals like giraffes, zebras and warthogs right from our porch everyday (in addition to the lovely animals on the farm). The home itself is just as described, really convenient and clean. The arranged transfers, the safaris, the homemade meals, the evenings at the fire - everything was perfect, starting with the first communication.

We've stayed with Moses only 2 days but it was an incredible time for us! He's super responsive and helpful. He gave us super clear instructions on what to do to get to his farm - and his farm is just amazing. Visit at Masaai Mara with his local Masaai friend was also amazing. He supports the local community a lot! The pink Container gives you all you need! Moses also left some welcome eggs and milk from his farm and juice for us. I can't stress enough how comfortable and clean the place is! Feel welcome in Kafountine and keep in touch :)

My husband and I stayed 5 nights in the pink container but we wish we could have stayed longer but we have to go back on the road. We had the immense opportunity to spend Christmas there and Moses and his staff invited us to share their Christmas BBQ. The place is fantastic, clean and Moses and is staff are more than welcoming. It is beautiful, house is spotless clean, price is fair and Masai Mara park is nearby. Moses also hooked us up with David, a great local guide. We also had a nice bush TV (fire) every night. We made lifelong memories there and would not hesitate to go back. We arrived as guest but after our stay, we felt we left friends. Only downside to this place, it is hard to leave. We travel a lot, had great experiences and this was by far the best stay we had. We definitely recommend it! Thanks Moses and is team for unforgettable memories.
